Cookie Policy

Cookies and local storage actually used by ThatPlay today.

Last updated 2026-08-09 · version 1.0

ThatPlay currently uses only strictly necessary cookies and local device storage. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party behavioural analytics, so no consent banner is shown.

Authentication

The authentication provider stores your session token in your browser (localStorage, and cookies where server-side rendering requires it). Without it you cannot stay signed in. Strictly necessary.

Preferences (localStorage)

  • thatplay.language — your chosen interface language
  • analysis preference keys — last used category, tags and workbench layout
  • saved filters, favourites and onboarding state
  • thatplay.analytics.v1 — local-only feature counters (never sent to any server; you can clear them in Settings → Privacy & data)

Local video connections (IndexedDB)

When you choose “Remember this video on this device”, your browser stores a file handle and lightweight file metadata in IndexedDB so the same local file can be reconnected. IndexedDB is not a cookie, but it is storage on your device and we list it for transparency. It never contains the video itself and never leaves your device.

Embedded YouTube content

Reference videos load through YouTube's official player in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) where technically possible. This still means your device connects to Google/YouTube and they may receive technical information such as your IP address and device data. Privacy-enhanced mode reduces, but does not eliminate, data sharing.

If this changes

If we later add analytics, marketing or payment technologies that require consent, we will implement a consent manager with Necessary / Analytics / Marketing categories, where rejecting is as easy as accepting, and non-essential scripts do not load before consent. Your choice would then be reachable from Settings → Privacy & data.
